How to: Activate or deactivate SmartQuotes in Word.
Solution:
Select 'Options...' from the 'Tools' menu, click the 'AutoFormat' tab, and select the 'Replace Straight Quotes with Smart Quotes' check box.
1) Select the 'Tools' menu and select 'Options...'. (The Options dialog box appears.)
2) Click the 'AutoFormat' tab.
3) Do one of the following in the 'Replace As You Type' group:
a) To turn smart quotes ON, select the 'Straight Quotes with 'Smart Quotes'' check box.
b) To turn smart quotes OFF, clear the 'Straight Quotes with 'Smart Quotes'' check box.
4) Click 'OK'.
NOTE: This option applies to both single and double quotes.
